Press Release: euROBIN Launches 1st Robotic Coopetition @ HUMANOIDS 2024 at Nancy European Robotics Week

euROBIN Launches 1st Robotic Coopetition @ HUMANOIDS 2024 at Nancy European Robotics Week

Nancy, France – November 2024 – The euROBIN project proudly announces the 1st euROBIN week and Robotic Coopetition, in partnership with the prestigious HUMANOIDS 2024 event, to be held from November 22-28, 2024, in Nancy, France. This landmark event will showcase Europe’s cutting-edge advancements in robotics and AI.

Held at the Centre des Congrès Prouvé, the event will gather 32 partners, 50 robots, 18 robotics teams and almost 500 scientists and professionals of the AI and Robotics sector, including top EU universities, research institutes, and industries including the Network of Excellence. Highlights include a robotics cooperative competition, live demonstrations of humanoid robots, quadrupeds, and drones, alongside public engagement activities. These activities include: conferences, round tables, demonstrations and robot coopetitions. There will even be guided tours, scientific performances and programming workshops for the general public and school classes.

The 1st euROBIN Coopetition will offer participants three main areas of research, each associated with a specific challenge.

  • The first challenge is industrial and aims to manipulate objects using a robotic arm. This challenge could be illustrated by manipulating a voltmeter to measure the voltage in a box.
  • The second challenge is called ‘outdoor’. It aims to test the capabilities of drones and legged robots in an outdoor environment.
  • Finally, the last challenge aims to develop robots capable of interacting in domestic environments. This will be done by achieving goals such as opening a fridge or placing an object in a drawer.

This event marks a significant milestone for European robotics, fostering collaboration and innovation across disciplines.
